Lead Technician

Location: Etches Park, Derby
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: 6 months initially
IR35: Inside IR35
Rate: £35.98/hr Umbrella | Overtime: £44.49/hr Umbrella
Hours: 4 on / 4 off shift pattern, days & nights; 40 hours/week + overtime

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Lead Technician to service, fault-find, repair and maintain Hitachi rolling stock assets . The role will involve planned and reactive maintenance, complex fault diagnosis and providing technical support to ensure fleet reliability and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and unplanned maintenance, fault finding and repairs.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical and pneumatic defects.
• Remove, replace, modify and install rolling stock components.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and schematics.
• Identify repeat defects and support reliability improvements.
• Provide technical support for in-service failures and operational issues.
• Complete accurate maintenance records using SAP.
• Maintain high standards of safety, quality and housekeeping.
• Liaise professionally with Hitachi and external personnel.

Essential Requirements

• Network Rail Sentinel PTS and relevant track safety competence.
• Rolling stock maintenance and fault-finding experience.
• Depot Protection and Working at Height competence.
• Manual Handling and powered tools competence.
• Crimping competence.
• HNC / Engineering NVQ Level 3 (mechanical/electrical discipline).
• Ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematics.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Good understanding of safety rules and regulations.

Desirable: AC Depot Isolation, Moveable Plant, Intermediate IT skills and UK Driving Licence.
