Infrastructure Storage & Backup Tower Lead

Overview

In this role you drive storage and backup excellence within Sopra Steria’s Aerospace Defence and Security sector. You lead a Storage & Backup team, shaping storage strategy and delivery for NetApp ONTAP environments and Veeam-based backups. You collaborate with cross-functional teams on critical, security-sensitive infrastructure and contribute to on-call and project work. This is a hands-on leadership position with scope to influence security-aligned storage practices and rapid recovery workflows.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure and administer NetApp ONTAP devices and clusters (AFF, FAS, E-Series)
• Manage NAS/SAN provisioning, LUNs, NFS/SMB shares and SVMs
• Perform capacity planning, performance tuning and storage optimisation
• Administer Veeam Backup & Replication (design, scheduling, retention, repositories)
• Integrate Veeam with NetApp for snapshot-based backups and rapid recovery
• Assess effort and cost for implementations
• Line management of the Storage and Backup Tower

Key requirements

• Extensive infrastructure management experience
• Proven deployment/configuration/administration of NetApp ONTAP
• Knowledge of NAS/SAN provisioning, LUNs, NFS/SMB, and SVMs
• Veeam Backup & Replication administration and integration with NetApp
• Experience ensuring backup/storage compliance with encryption, retention and audit requirements
• SC security clearance candidacy (British citizenship)
