Projects & Cost Accountant

Overview

In this role you partner with operations, engineering and supply chain to drive project profitability and cost control. You will strengthen financial controls, analyse inventory and support strategic decision-making across the business. The position offers exposure to senior stakeholders and opportunities to lead continuous improvement in reporting and processes. You will influence profitability and operational performance through meaningful financial insights within a global manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with operations, project management and supply chain to support project profitability and cost control
• Lead monthly project cost reviews, inventory analysis and variance reporting
• Monitor budgets, cost-to-complete forecasts and margin performance
• Own standard costing processes, inventory valuation and COGS accuracy
• Support month-end close activities, reporting and financial analysis
• Investigate inventory variances and drive stock accuracy and control improvements
• Provide insight into material, labour and overhead variances and identify efficiency opportunities
• Support budgeting, forecasting and business planning
• Drive continuous improvement across reporting, controls and financial processes

Key requirements

• Qualified/part-qualified Accountant (CIMA preferred) or QBE
• Experience in cost accounting with knowledge of standard costing, inventory and financial analysis
• Background in manufacturing, engineering, project-based or inventory-intensive environments
• Excellent communication and business partnering skills with ability to influence stakeholders
• Analytical, commercially aware with a focus on continuous improvement
• Strong Excel skills and proficiency with ERP systems (JD Edwards advantageous)
