Team Leader

Overview

In this Team Leader role at GKN Filton, you will lead a 10–15 person surface treatments team to deliver Lean-driven performance and operational excellence. You’ll apply Lean principles to meet PSQDCC targets while fostering a culture of safety, learning, and collaboration aligned with GKN’s values. You’ll coach and develop your team, solve problems on the shop floor, and drive improvements across zones in a high-precision aerospace environment. This position offers exposure to complex wing-related components and cross-functional milestones in a global aerospace leader.

Responsibilities

• Role model culture principles and foster inclusive, collaborative environment
• Conduct performance evaluations, coach, and bridge performance gaps
• Maintain safety-first mindset and ensure compliance with HSE policies
• Lead Lean Operating Model deployment to hit PSQDCC targets
• Develop a pipeline of future team leaders
• Promote go-to-Gemba problem-solving and resolve issues at source
• Coordinate across zones to ensure material flow and accountability
• Manage zone budget with Group Leader and optimize resource allocation
• Uphold regulatory standards, Equal Employment Opportunity, and Export Control

Key requirements

• Experience in a similar role or relevant tasks in a designated work zone
• Proven Kaizen implementation and standardized work adherence
• Background in a regulated industry
• Self-motivated with drive to exceed PSQDCC targets
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Proven ability to lead, engage, train, and develop team members
