Overview

In this role you will join the Global Fixed Income Trade Processing (FiTP) team in Belfast as a Senior Software Engineer (Java). You’ll design and build large, distributed systems to capture and process high volumes of Fixed Income trades, with a focus on SFT products. Expect a fast-paced environment requiring strong prioritization, attention to detail, and clear communication with stakeholders. You will contribute to scalable, secure solutions that support Citi’s trading and risk objectives, partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software.

Responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility studies, estimations, and IT planning to meet business needs
• Oversee development lifecycle from analysis through testing, implementation, and support
• Apply deep applications development knowledge to solve complex problems and evaluate processes
• Recommend security measures during post-implementation analyses
• Consult with users and technology groups to propose advanced programming solutions
• Define operating standards and processes and mentor junior staff
• Operate with limited supervision and act as SME to stakeholders and team
• Assess risk in business decisions and ensure compliance with laws and Citi policies

Key requirements

• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming
• Strong Java programming experience; Spring Boot or similar frameworks
• Domain knowledge of financial industry, especially SFT
• Proven track record delivering large distributed systems
• Ability to perform thorough requirements analysis and design
• Commitment to high-quality, well-crafted software
• Ability to work independently with ownership of estimates and timelines
• Strong teamwork skills and capability to work in virtual teams
• Critical thinking to identify improvements and drive execution
