Overview

In this role you lead the Group Reporting function for British Land, overseeing the consolidation and reporting for the Group and directing a team of five accountants. You will own external and statutory reporting, quarterly management packs, and liaise with auditors while guiding corporate transactions and technical accounting matters. You’ll work closely with the Finance leadership to deliver timely, accurate financial information that informs strategic decisions. This is a hands-on, impactful position in a collaborative, high-performance finance team.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop the Group Reporting team (5 accountants) and contribute to Finance leadership
Own half-year Group consolidation process, including key metrics and analysis
Oversee external reporting: financial statements and notes for annual and half-year reports
Manage quarterly reporting alongside senior Finance team, including Underlying Profit
Act as primary contact for external auditors to resolve issues efficiently
Collaborate with Tax, Treasury and Capital Markets on corporate transactions and restructures
Resolve technical accounting issues and prepare/present technical papers as needed
Lead end-to-end production of the Group’s statutory accounts (excluding joint ventures) with external auditors
Perform ad-hoc analyses and projects to support management decisions

Key requirements

Degree (2:1 or above) or equivalent qualification
Qualified Accountant (ICAEW or equivalent) with strong technical skills
Strong communication with both accountants and non-accountants and stakeholder management
Proven ability to work collaboratively and take on responsibility
Demonstrable commercial awareness
Ability to manage a broad portfolio, prioritise, and meet tight deadlines
Confident in analysing complex transactions and distilling salient features
Ability to produce clear, well-structured schedules and papers
Excellent IT skills
