Environmental Manager

Overview

You will lead environmental performance on a landmark London infrastructure programme, embedded in project teams to drive compliant, practical environmental solutions. The role requires active site presence, collaboration with main contractors and multidisciplinary teams, and ongoing risk identification and mitigation. You will influence delivery teams to uphold high environmental standards while supporting project goals. This is a hands-on, site-focused position with a clear impact on project delivery and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental compliance, assurance and risk management across the project lifecycle
• Embed within construction teams to identify and mitigate environmental risks on site
• Coordinate with contractors, delivery teams and stakeholders to implement environmental controls
• Support permit management and regulatory interactions (where applicable)
• Promote practical environmental solutions and advise on best practices in construction environments
• Engage in regular site attendance to monitor implementation and performance

Key requirements

• Experience on major infrastructure or complex construction projects
• Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation and compliance
• Experience managing environmental risks throughout the project lifecycle
• Experience working with main contractors and multidisciplinary delivery teams
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to challenge contractors and influence project teams
• Delivery-focused with practical approach
• Willingness to spend regular time on construction sites as part of an embedded project team
