Senior Data Scientist

Overview

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will lead high-impact market modeling initiatives from discovery to live deployment, accelerating delivery for the Market Pricing teams. You own complex modeling work, guide project delivery, and mentor junior colleagues to raise team capability. You’ll build and refine market models to improve price competitiveness, profitability, and growth, while upholding governance and fair customer outcomes. This role blends hands-on modelling with collaboration across pricing, underwriting, and ML engineering to shape pricing strategy at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic analytics projects from discovery through implementation
• Own and deliver complex analytical problems with end-to-end delivery
• Provide specialist modelling support across Market Pricing
• Identify new opportunities to improve model accuracy and impact
• Develop, analyse and deploy advanced statistical and ML models into live pricing
• Review and enhance existing models with new features and data sources
• Governance: ensure documentation, code control, peer review, and fair outcomes
• Collaborate with Market Pricing, Retail Pricing, Underwriting, Data and ML Engineering to deploy solutions
• Explain modelling work clearly and provide practical recommendations
• Align pricing actions with regulatory expectations and customer outcomes

Key requirements

• Proven track record of delivering commercial value using supervised machine learning
• Advanced Python programming skills
• Proficient in SQL and Git
• Advanced knowledge of data science tools and platforms
• Experience developing and implementing predictive models
• Ability to drive projects from initiation to completion
• Strong numerical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to explain complex topics to varied audiences
• Curious and proactive approach to identifying opportunities
