Buyer

Overview

In this Buyer role, you ensure materials, components, and services are available to keep production moving in a busy aerospace manufacturing setting. You will manage day-to-day purchasing, supplier communications, and supply chain coordination across planning, production, quality, engineering, and finance. You’ll drive continuity of supply, address shortages, and contribute to improvements in cost, delivery, and supplier performance. This position offers a hands-on chance to shape purchasing processes in a regulated, high‑performance environment.

Responsibilities

• Raise, place and manage purchase orders aligned with business needs and approved suppliers
• Monitor open orders and expedite deliveries as needed
• Maintain accurate purchasing data (delivery dates, pricing, supplier responses) in ERP/MRP
• Engage with suppliers to review quotations and support value-for-money decisions
• Support supplier performance monitoring (delivery, quality, responsiveness, competitiveness)
• Collaborate with planning, warehouse and production to ensure material availability
• Assist with stock control, minimum order quantities, reorder levels, and lead-time reviews
• Contribute to continuous improvement of purchasing, inventory, and supply chain processes
• Maintain compliance and accurate procurement records; support audits as required

Key requirements

• Experience in buyer/procurement/purchasing within manufacturing or aerospace/regulated environments
• Confidence using ERP/MRP systems and MS Office; accurate data maintenance
• Understanding of core manufacturing and supply chain concepts (BOMs, lead times, inventory control, demand planning)
• Professional, confident communicator with stakeholders at all levels
• Strong planning and organisational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
• Analytical, detail-focused, commercially aware; able to interpret data accurately
• Proactive, adaptable, and team-oriented in responding to changing priorities
