Experienced Character Artist

Overview

As an Experienced Character Artist at Frontier, you will deliver polished game-ready character and creature assets and actively raise team quality through mentoring and process improvements. You’ll work with leads and producers to align with project goals, support outsourcing feedback, and document workflows. Your leadership in collaboration will help shape our art quality and pipeline. Responsibilities

• Create polished, game-ready character and creature assets from concept to implementation
• Own work and drive outcomes with minimal supervision
• Mentor and support junior artists to grow the team’s skill and confidence
• Collaborate with leads and producers to understand goals, schedules, and priorities
• Troubleshoot technical/artistic issues and share solutions
• Improve workflows and maintain/update documentation
• Write briefs and provide actionable feedback to outsourcing vendors
• Maintain organized asset sharing and handover practices

Key requirements

• Experience delivering high-quality game-ready character/creature assets
• Expert knowledge of sculpting, modelling, topology, UVs, baking, texturing, and game-engine integration
• Deep understanding of anatomy, proportion, deformation, and visual storytelling
• Proficiency with ZBrush, Maya, Substance Painter, Photoshop
• Ability to work independently and contribute to team goals
• Experience giving/receiving constructive feedback and mentoring
• Ability to represent the team externally and support planning/outsourcing
• Effective cross-disciplinary communication and collaboration
