Consultant/Senior Consultant, Research & Development Incentives (Costing), Tax & Legal

Overview

In this role you help clients identify and optimise R&D incentives, applying tax principles, data analysis, and cost methodologies. You’ll lead R&D projects, draft methodologies, and prepare claim calculations across sectors, while building client relationships and mentoring junior colleagues. The opportunity sits within Deloitte’s market-leading R&D tax services group, offering broad exposure and cross-functional collaboration. Responsibilities

• Assess SME and Large R&D regime eligibility for clients
• Analyse technical and cost data to develop robust R&D claim methodologies
• Lead the tax-technical aspects of the R&D claim process within project teams
• Prepare HMRC submission reports explaining R&D claims
• Provide industry insight and support fee proposals where appropriate
• Collaborate in diverse, inclusive teams and review junior work for Directors/Partners

Key requirements

• Degree level qualified (or equivalent)
• ACA, ATT or CTA qualified (or equivalent)
• Experience preparing R&D claims with minimal supervision
• Ability to prepare complex costing spreadsheets for SME and RDEC claims
• Knowledge of the UK Patent Box regime
• Experience reviewing UK R&D and Patent Box claims
• Proven ability to lead small R&D projects and deliver to clients
