Senior Quantity Surveyor

Overview

In this role you will lead the commercial function across one or more projects, steering strategy, cost control, and performance to deliver profitable outcomes. You’ll work closely with internal teams, clients, and supply chain to ensure value, risk management, and timely final accounts. The position sits within a reputable construction organisation delivering high-profile projects, offering scope to shape commercial approaches from pre-construction to final account. You will mentor the commercial team and influence project success through strategic procurement and effective stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of projects, ensuring contractual and financial obligations are met
• Mentor junior commercial team members
• Oversee procurement strategies, subcontractor packages, and supply chain engagement
• Prepare and submit monthly cost reports and forecasts
• Manage valuations, variations, and contractual notices as required
• Negotiate interim valuations and final accounts with clients and subcontractors
• Maintain strong cashflow across projects
• Support bid and tender processes and contribute to commercial and delivery strategies

Key requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in the construction sector
• Strong understanding of pre- and post-contract commercial management
• Experience on complex construction projects across multiple sectors (desirable)
• Excellent knowledge of contract forms and commercial best practice
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to lead, influence, and collaborate within project teams
• Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
