Personal Tax Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead personal tax compliance and advisory for a growing portfolio of high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and partnerships from our Edinburgh office. You will manage your own portfolio, review junior staff work, and contribute to broader advisory work while developing others. The role blends technical excellence with client-facing delivery and internal collaboration, including opportunities to participate in firm-wide advisory activities. You will work within a supportive, training-focused team that values accuracy, deadlines, and proactive planning.

Responsibilities

• Review team work for technical accuracy
• Budgeting and meeting deadlines
• Billing targets and time recovery monitoring
• Reporting to partners
• Liaising with clients on day-to-day tax affairs and planning
• Managing your own portfolio and reviewing junior staff work

Key requirements

• Management experience in a tax environment managing a portfolio
• Delivery of personal tax compliance services
• In-depth knowledge of inheritance/gift and capital gains tax planning; international tax and trust planning as needed
• Organisational and prioritisation skills to meet deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal skills with partners and clients
• Proactive, self-motivated, and team-oriented
• Experience with computerised tax packages and strong IT skills
• Commitment to a career in tax and experience in a medium to large firm
• Ability to deliver accurate work timely and cost-effectively
