Principal Water Quality Consultant (Modeller)

Overview

In this role you will join a multidisciplinary team to advance coastal and estuarine water quality modelling for the UK and beyond. You will apply and develop 2D/3D hydrodynamic and water quality models to understand pollutants, pathways and impacts, and help design engineered and nature-based solutions. You’ll work with diverse stakeholders to deliver sustainable water quality outcomes and contribute to ambitious environmental goals. This is a growth-focused opportunity with potential for career progression through UK and international projects.

Responsibilities

• Scope, collect data, develop, execute and present multidimensional environmental water quality models
• Model reservoirs, lakes, transitional and coastal waters
• Identify pollution sources, pathways and impacts on receptors
• Develop engineered and nature-based solutions to improve water quality
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams and clients to apply modelling insights

Key requirements

• Extensive experience in 2D/3D hydrodynamic and water quality modelling
• Experience with MIKE, Delft3D, Telemac or equivalent tools
• Understanding of numerical modelling equations and discretisation, 2D mesh generation
• Basic understanding of physicochemical water quality and oceanography; awareness of regulatory standards
• Strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder engagement
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
