Defence Account Director

Overview

In this role you drive strategic growth in the UK Defence market for SCC, shaping and closing major opportunities. You will build senior Defence client relationships, align pipelines with growth targets, and lead cross-functional bids to position SCC as a trusted supplier for secure IT, cyber, data, AI, and digital transformation programs. You will work with Defence leadership, partners, and internal teams to win significant contracts and expand SCC’s defence footprint. The role offers hybrid work, senior impact, and a path to influence national security IT initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead BD activity to support annual award targets and 2–5 year growth in UK Defence
• Develop, qualify, and manage a strategic pipeline aligned to UK Defence strategy
• Develop and maintain senior Defence client relationships for SCC as a strategic supplier
• Guide bid teams in pursuing and shaping winning business development campaigns
• Identify opportunities that best match SCC strengths and deliver optimal client outcomes
• Lead and execute large new business campaigns in the UK Defence market
• Collaborate effectively within a multi-functional team as a leader and communicator

Key requirements

• Extensive experience selling into the UK Defence market with MOD relationships
• Proven track record of year-on-year growth and leading new business campaigns
• Success in winning complex contracts valued > 25m
• Existing stakeholder relationships in UK MOD
• Knowledge of Government BD, MOD procurement, contracts, and buying behaviours
• Experience winning work via frameworks and scaling follow-on awards
• Experience creating compelling bids with partners and consortia
• Strong interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills
• MOD Customer and industry stakeholder engagement
• SC clearance minimum; DV clearance preferred and required for some activity
