Environmental Geoscientist | Energy

Overview

In this role you will plan, coordinate and deliver environmental geoscience fieldwork within Stantec’s Energy and Resources Group. You’ll support ground investigation activities, monitor groundwater, surface water and gas, and ensure safe, high‑quality field records. Off site, you’ll help prepare work plans, desk studies and investigation reports, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. The role offers strong growth potential in contaminated land, hydrogeology and ground investigation.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and deliver environmental and geoscience siteworks across diverse projects
• Support ground investigation supervision and field operations
• Conduct groundwater, surface water and gas monitoring
• Coordinate sample handling, labelling, chain of custody and laboratory coordination
• Maintain clear field records and contribute to reporting
• Uphold HSSE requirements on site and ensure safe field practices
• Prepare work plans, fieldwork specifications, HSSE documentation and investigation reports
• Collaborate with project managers, technical specialists, field teams, laboratories and subcontractors

Key requirements

• BSc Hons in Geoscience or equivalent
• practical understanding of ground investigation, environmental monitoring and data collection
• experience or strong interest in groundwater, surface water and ground gas monitoring
• thorough sample handling, labelling, chain of custody and lab coordination
• clear, accurate field records and reporting inputs
• well-organised, collaborative and HSSE-aware
• full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites, including extended periods on site
