Principal Arboricultural Consultant

Overview

In this role, you will lead arboricultural services within a multidisciplinary Nature team, delivering surveys, assessments, and expert guidance for planning and delivery. You will work across UK offices and internationally on diverse projects, shaping decisions and supporting clients and internal teams. You will act as an expert witness and help develop the business through bids and client engagement. Responsibilities

• Organise, oversee and conduct tree surveys for planning and condition assessment
• Prepare and review arboricultural reports to BS 5837:2012, AIA and AMS
• Prepare Tree Condition Reports and provide expert arboricultural advice to teams and clients
• Act as expert witness for planning appeals, DCO examinations, or equivalent
• Work independently or with others on delivery and management of arboricultural services, potentially including line and project management
• Conduct site monitoring to discharge planning conditions and contribute to business development and client engagement

Key requirements

• Expert knowledge of arboricultural principles and BS5837:2012, BS8545:2014, BS3998:2010
• Expert knowledge of tree identification, inspection, and management options
• Technicians Certificate in Arboriculture (or equivalent Level 3/4) with substantial experience
• Knowledge of UK legislation, best practice and policy in arboriculture
• Valid full clean UK driving licence for site visits
• Experience in planning, delivery and potential line management of projects
