Steel Erector
Salary: Minimum start £34,000 + per annum depending on experience
Position: Steel Erector
Location: High Wycombe, travelling to various project locations
HOURS : 08:00-17:00 Monday Thursday & 07:00 16:00 Fridays
We are seeking an experienced Steel Erector who can not only deliver high-quality on-site installation work but also take responsibility for managing day-to-day activities on site. The successful candidate must be capable of working independently, coordinating tasks, and ensuring smooth progress across multiple stages of steel erection.
Key Responsibilities
Erect structural steel frames, beams, columns, and associated components
Read and interpret fabrication drawings and site plans
Work collaboratively with site supervisors, crane operators, and fabrication teams
Install bolted connections, bracing, and secondary steelwork
Operate lifting equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely
Maintain high standards of site safety and housekeeping
Adapt to changing project requirements and assist with on-site problem-solving
Requirements
Proven experience as a steel erector on commercial or industrial projects
Strong understanding of structural steel installation and site safety
Ability to read and work from technical drawings
CSCS card required; IPAF, CPCS, or slinger/signaller qualifications advantageous
Comfortable working at height and in varying weather conditions
Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively within a team
Full UK driving licence
Own transport essential
Ability to weld would be advantageous
