Salary : £13.45 per hour

Hours : 15 hours per week

Rostered hours including Bank Holidays, Evenings and Weekends

What youll be doing:

Do you want to make a meaningful difference?Southdown is a not-for-profit provider of accommodation, care and support for 160 adults with learning and physical disabilities in our 23 supported living services and 4 residential care homes across Sussex.

As a driver youll transport clients from the service to various locations, such as appointments and going shopping. Youll assist clients in and out of the vehicle, and ensure theyre safe and supported while being transported. Youll also ensure the vehicle is kept clean and carry out weekly vehicle maintenance checks.

Experience in a similar role would be helpful but is not essential. We welcome applications from candidates with previous experience in roles such as Driver, Healthcare Assistant, Care Assistant, Support Worker, Personal Assistant or Residential Care Worker, however, this is not essential and full training will be provided.

Service Description:

Wynford House is a large residential care home on the outskirts of Seaford for 11 adults with learning disabilities.

Our clients are supported to lead active, fulfilling lives and are supported to make the most of their local community while developing each clients choice, control and independence.

Knowledge, skills and experience

What you need for the role:

• A full manual UK driving licence is essential as you'll be driving our Service Vehicles to help keep our residents connected to their community.
• Excellent customer service with a high standard of care and consideration.
• A willingness to complete relevant training in health and social care, including moving and handling.
• Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge tyre pressure, oil checks, etc.
• Youre physically fit, able to assist with loading and unloading a wheelchair into a vehicle.
• You live within reasonable commuting distance of the service or be willing to relocate.
• An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which will be paid for by Southdown.

What would be nice:

• Experience working with clients with varying levels of physical and cognitive abilities, including those with learning disabilities or mental health challenges.
• Previous experience transporting clients is desirable.

Training:

We offer full training for this position so you dont need direct experience. Youll also gain valuable qualifications, continually develop your skills and build a great career with the largest provider of housing, care and support in Sussex.
