About the Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a well-established and growing law firm seeking an experienced Conveyancing Paralegal to join its busy Residential Property team in Chelmsford .

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident conveyancing professional who is comfortable managing their own caseload and handling transactions from initial instruction through to completion and post-completion.

You will work closely with clients, solicitors, estate agents, lenders and other third parties, providing a professional and efficient service throughout each transaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently manage a residential conveyancing caseload from instruction through to post-completion.
• Handle a range of freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, transfers of equity and re-mortgages.
• Take client instructions and open new matters in line with firm procedures and compliance requirements.
• Prepare contracts, legal documents and other transaction documentation.
• Review title documents and raise and respond to enquiries.
• Order, review and report on relevant property searches.
• Liaise with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, brokers, developers and other solicitors.
• Prepare matters for exchange and completion.
• Deal with exchanges of contracts and completions.
• Prepare and submit SDLT returns.
• Submit Land Registry applications and deal with post-completion requirements.
• Keep case management systems and client files accurate and up to date.
• Provide regular and clear updates to clients throughout the conveyancing process.
• Deliver a consistently high standard of client care and service.

About You

The successful candidate will have previous experience working within a residential or commercial property department and will be confident handling their own conveyancing files with minimal supervision.

You should have:

• Proven experience managing your own conveyancing caseload from instruction through to post-completion.
• Strong knowledge of the residential conveyancing process.
• Experience dealing with both freehold and leasehold transactions.
• Experience with SDLT returns and Land Registry applications.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and legal case management systems.
• A proactive, professional and client-focused approach.

Desirable Experience

• Experience handling a high-volume residential conveyancing caseload.
• Knowledge of mortgage lender requirements and panel processes.
• Experience using digital conveyancing platforms.
