You've run teams and P&L. Now shape a practice's whole pipeline.

Most director mechanical engineer roles trade off scope against support. This one keeps both. This is a Director Mechanical Engineer position with a building services and engineering practice based in London, with the project diversity that location suggests. The day-to-day mix runs HVAC system design, plant strategy, compliance work across Part L and Part F, and the coordination needed to make a mechanical scheme deliverable inside a multi-disciplinary team. Tools you would expect: Revit, Hevacomp or IES, AutoCAD, Bluebeam for coordination.Director level: leadership of a team or office, profit and loss responsibility, and the kind of senior client relationships that shape the practice's pipeline. Recurring themes on this brief: WELL, commercial, residential, and mixed-use. Prior exposure to those areas is useful, not mandatory.Director level moves are rarely about the day job and usually about trajectory. The question worth asking is whose pipeline you are building. Here the senior client relationships you bring and build stay attached to you, the team you lead is yours to grow, and the profit and loss responsibility comes with the authority to actually affect it. That is the difference between a director title and a director role.Salary: £100,000 to £150,000 depending on experience. Working pattern: on-site, full time, based in London.Send your CV to Alex Cole at Responsum for a 20-minute call this week.If you’ve read this far and you’re still unsure and would prefer a detailed market insight including salary bands and market trends - then check out our free guide here:
