Five or six years into structures and still not trusted with the whole job? That is a common story, and it is usually about the firm, not the engineer. This is a well established structural engineering practice in south west London working across residential, commercial and refurbishment schemes, much of it the kind of high quality London property work that demands a careful structural hand. The role exists because the practice is busy and wants an experienced engineer who can run their own projects without hand holding. At five or six years in, you would be given exactly that. You would take schemes from concept to construction, manage your own client and architect relationships, and have the senior engineers close by rather than out of reach. There is real scope to push towards senior and chartered status if you are not there yet, and the variety of London work keeps the technical side genuinely interesting. This fits a structural engineer with around five to six years of UK experience, confident across the common materials, who is ready to own projects rather than support them. Salary is between 45,000 and 58,000.The fastest way to know whether this is the right move is a short and confidential conversation, so reach out even if you only want to understand the role, the salary and the progression on offer in more detail. If being trusted with the whole structure is overdue, send your CV.
