Founding Operator / Founders Associate

TL;DR

Do you love working with Claude, Relay or Flare? This role is for you if you enjoy simplifying and automating processes across Operations, Inventory, HR, Finance and more. Success in this role looks like saving each member of the team 30 minutes a day, so they can focus on building.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the C‑team on key strategic projects, from finding new office spaces to instituting new company processes among the team.
• Ensure the successful delivery and operations of our robots onto customer sites.
• Design and develop new processes (e.g., supplier management, internal inventory tracking).
• Improve and automate important business operations (e.g., accounting, team members on shift, holiday tracking).
• Deliver real‑world impact today using cutting‑edge robotics.

About Paddington Robotics

At P9R7 we’re building robots that can handle the messy, unpredictable and chaotic real world. We bridge the gap between research and real‑world deployments, starting in supermarkets and retail stores. Our mission is to become the UK’s go‑to applied AI robotics team and we’ll go above and beyond to get there.

What we actually do

• Build AI models and hardware that let robots work safely alongside humans—lifting, moving, and getting stuff done better and faster.
• Spend lots of time on customer sites to better understand and solve for the messy chaos of most environments.
• Think 10+ years ahead, reimagining manual labour and creating robots that become complementary assistants for labour‑intensive and physically demanding tasks.

Operations Manager / Founders Associate

We’re looking for an Operations Manager / Founders Associate to problem‑solve across a wide range of deployment, finance, HR and operations challenges. You’ll work closely with the C‑team on important strategic projects. One week you might be finding new office factory space or buying vans to transport robots, and the next you’ll be automating internal processes and building a central company "brain" in Claude.

You’ll have full ownership to identify gaps and develop corresponding solutions. This role is flexible and has the potential to grow in multiple directions, most fitting to your expertise and interests.

About You

• We are flexible in terms of seniority. You might be a recent graduate with relevant internship experience or someone who has worked in a fast‑moving environment, early‑mid stage startup (ideal), consulting, venture capital or similar.
• You are a power user of the latest AI‑tools and can demonstrate experience using AI to automate business processes.
• You love solving problems outside of your comfort zone or area of expertise and want to be thrown into more opportunities to learn.
• You’re highly self‑driven and proactive. As the first hire in this team, you will be making everything from scratch; if it doesn’t exist, you’ll create it.
• You must be willing to travel within the UK up to 3‑4 days per week and support customers on site during operational hours (starting at 4am).
• Most importantly, you are a go‑getter.

What we look for beyond the basics

• Highly ambitious: comfortable taking a project from concept to completion and doing whatever it takes to win.
• Self‑directed and proactive: you thrive in a dynamic, unpredictable, multi‑disciplinary environment.
• Enthusiastic team players: you ask questions, help others, and communicate effectively.

What will impress us

We love proactive doers. Show us how you’d set up a robot parts inventory system. Tell us what you would put in place to reduce the number of 4am shifts our whole team needs to do with our customers. Tell us why our mission excites you. Let your ideas be bold, creative, and stand out.

Location

Our London office is right by Portobello Road. You will work full‑time, largely on‑site (4‑5 days a week), experiencing vibrant startup energy with a team that knows when to laugh and when to buckle down.

Equal Opportunity Statement

Paddington Robotics is an equal opportunity employer and encourages individuals from all backgrounds to apply. We offer competitive compensation, a friendly team, an insanely stimulating work environment, and the opportunity to be part of something massive.
