Class 2 HGV Driver Days

Job Description

Polar Speed Distribution Limited (a UPS company) is a logistics and temperature‑sensitive pharmaceutical supply‑chain provider located at Unit 10 Nobel Way, Birmingham, B6 7EU. The role is a Full‑time HGV Class 2 Driver (Days) working 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 0600 start time.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing the scanning of packages or pallets to the delivery vehicle when applicable.
• Ensuring the safe and secure loading of all consignments to the vehicle using the appropriate equipment.
• Assisting with the loading and unloading of deliveries using the appropriate equipment.
• Ensuring the vehicle is always kept at the correct temperature.
• Conducting vehicle safety checks as outlined in documentation, including the refrigeration unit on the vehicle.
• Maintaining cleanliness of both cab and chambers.
• Reporting all defects as per the defect reporting process.
• Adhering to all legislation governing HGV driving in the UK & IRL.
• Ensuring the drivers card is downloaded upon completion of each shift.
• Demonstrating professional and safe driving competency, being smart and presentable.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Delivering and collecting pharmaceutical consignments to GP surgeries, retail pharmacies, hospitals, and wholesalers.
• Communicating operational delays or delivery/failures to the line manager as soon as possible.
• Correctly completing EPOD/driver manifest/collection/refusal paperwork.
• Driving as per the planned schedule.
• Additional tasks may be requested by the line manager appropriate to the skills and responsibilities of a Class 2 driver.

Specialised Knowledge

• A minimum of 2 years driving experience.
• Driver certificate of professional competence (CPC) qualification in date.
• Must hold a class 2 C category driving licence (ideally no more than 6 points).
• Previous experience is advantageous.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise.
• Team player and able to work on own initiative.
