Shape the future of recycling in Somerset - join Biffa as an Operations Manager. This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
Responsibilities
Manage daily HWRC operations safely and efficiently across multiple sites
Lead, motivate, and support teams including supervisors, site managers, and operatives
Ensure compliance with all legislation, environmental permits, and company policies
Oversee plant maintenance, repairs, and performance standards
Build strong relationships with clients, customers, regulators, and the public
Monitor performance against budgets, implementing improvements where needed
Drive customer service excellence while maximising recycling performance
Requirements
Strong knowledge of HWRC, transfer station, and road transport operations
Proven experience managing large local authority contracts and workforces
Solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation
Financial awareness with the ability to manage budgets effectively
Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
Full UK/EU driving licence and relevant industry qualifications (IOSH, CPC, COTC)
