Youth Services Project Worker: Mental Health & Wellbeing
Newcastle upon Tyne
Everyturn Mental Health is seeking a Project Worker to support the Children and Young People’s Services in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people? Do you thrive in a dynamic, creative, and people-focused role? If so, we’d love to hear from you.
At our Children and Young People’s Services, we’re dedicated to empowering young people aged 11-25 to make informed, confident and healthy choices. You’ll join a group of experienced, motivated colleagues who believe in the power of youth voice, inclusion, and early intervention. This is your chance to be part of something meaningful - helping to shape services with young people, not just for them.
This role is not eligible for sponsorship as is does not meet the requirements as set out by the UK Visa and Immigration Service.
We are looking for flexible bank sessional workers who can provide support on an as-needed basis (covering sickness, holidays and additional project work) at Westgate Road, Newcastle upon Tyne. When asked to work, this would usually be between the hours of 10am and 8pm, depending on requirements.
As a Project Worker, you’ll play a vital role in supporting young people by delivering a wide range of engaging mental health and wellbeing interventions and informal education - including the Children and Young People's Safe Haven drop-in, youth work drop-ins in schools, youth group sessions, one-to-one sessions, group work, outreach, workshops and promotional stalls. You can expect to cover a range of areas, including mental health and emotional wellbeing support, positive relationships, drugs & alcohol, sexual health, sexual exploitation, domestic violence, physical assault, bullying & harassment (including cyber bullying), social media and digital safety.
You will be a champion for youth voice, actively gathering feedback, amplifying young people’s perspectives, and embedding their participation into the development and continuous improvement of our services.
Collaboration is key in this role. You’ll work closely with parents, social care, schools, youth and community organisations, and other professionals connected to the young person’s support network. Where needed, you’ll make appropriate referrals to our colleagues, partner services, or external agencies to ensure holistic support.
A strong commitment to safeguarding, risk management, confidentiality, health and safety, and maintaining accurate case notes is essential.
Here at Everyturn Mental Health we champion equality, diversity and inclusion within the organisation by ensuring our opportunities are open to all and our approach is inclusive. We positively encourage applications from candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion/belief, marital status, or pregnancy/maternity.
We welcome you to be yourself at work and have a range of Colleague Networks for members and allies of the LGBTQ+; Black, Asian and minority ethnic; menopause and neurodivergent communities.
We particularly encourage applicants from ethnic minority backgrounds, as we strive to ensure our service reflects the diversity within our locality.
