We're looking for an experienced, compassionate and motivated Senior Support Worker to join our dedicated team at Llys Hafren where we provide high-quality residential care for older people living with dementia.

This is more than a care role—it's an opportunity to lead by example, support and develop colleagues, and make a lasting difference to the lives of our residents.

About The Role

As a Senior Support Worker, you'll support the Team Leader with the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring every resident receives compassionate, personalised care that promotes dignity, independence and choice.

A key responsibility of this role is the safe administration and management of medication, ensuring best practice and compliance with all policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver outstanding person-centred care tailored to each resident's individual needs, preferences and life history.
  • Promote best practice in dementia care, ensuring residents are treated with dignity, compassion and respect at all times.
  • Administer and manage medication safely and accurately in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Observe, monitor and respond to changes in residents' physical, emotional and cognitive wellbeing.
  • Develop positive relationships with residents, relatives, healthcare professionals and external agencies.
  • Contribute to care planning, risk assessments and accurate record keeping.
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting Shaw Healthcare's values and delivering excellent standards of care.

About You

You will need to have:

  • Previous experience working within a residential elderly care setting.
  • Experience supporting people living with dementia.
  • Confidence in administering medication and maintaining accurate records.
  • A QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or be working towards it)
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to lead by example.
  • The ability to remain calm, professional and supportive in challenging situations.

Our Benefits Include

  • Excellent career progression opportunities.
  • Fully funded training and recognised care qualifications.
  • Leadership development programmes.
  • Reimbursement of Social Care Wales and Scottish Social Services Council registration fees.
  • Employee-owned company – colleagues have received over £2,850 each in tax-free bonuses to date.
  • Refer a Friend Scheme – earn up to £1,000.
  • 28 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays, pro rata).
  • Company Sick Pay.
  • Enhanced pay for bank holidays.
  • Free uniform.
  • Discounted homemade meals while on shift.
  • 24/7 online GP service.
  • Pension scheme.
  • Access to over 1,600 retail, leisure and holiday discounts.
  • Death in service benefit (subject to eligibility).
  • Shaw Star Awards and Long Service Awards.
  • Employee Assistance Programme providing confidential wellbeing, financial and mental health support for you and your family.
