About the role
We are looking for an organised, customer-focused Retail Manager to lead the day-to-day retail operations of our pharmacy in Birmingham. You will motivate the team, maintain excellent shop-floor standards and drive retail performance while working closely with the pharmacist to deliver a welcoming, professional customer experience.
This role focuses on retail management. Clinical queries and decisions will be referred to the pharmacist.
Key responsibilities
Manage daily retail operations, ensuring the pharmacy is clean, well presented and welcoming.
Lead, support and motivate the retail team, setting clear expectations for customer service and performance.
Coordinate staff rotas and day-to-day duties to maintain effective shop-floor coverage.
Monitor sales and retail targets, identifying opportunities to improve performance through appropriate promotions and merchandising.
Manage stock ordering, deliveries, replenishment, stock rotation and expiry checks.
Maintain accurate cash-handling procedures and oversee till reconciliation.
Resolve retail customer enquiries and complaints professionally, referring medicine-related or clinical questions to the pharmacy team.
Work closely with the pharmacist to support smooth operations and ensure staff follow agreed procedures.
Support recruitment, induction and ongoing training for retail colleagues.
Follow company policies for health and safety, security and confidentiality.
Previous experience as a retail manager, assistant manager or supervisor.
Strong team leadership and customer service skills.
Experience managing stock, merchandising and cash handling.
A practical understanding of sales targets and retail performance.
Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
A responsible approach to confidential information and customer care.
Experience working in a community pharmacy or health and beauty retail environment.
Experience coaching colleagues and improving store performance.
