Air & Road Freight Import Clerk

We are looking for an Air & Road Freight Import Clerk to join a small and dedicated import team at the Heathrow Airport branch of our client.

The role covers the full import process, from arranging shipments with overseas origins and receiving pre-alerts through to customs clearance, final delivery and customer invoicing. The ideal candidate will have 1–2 years of experience in freight forwarding , preferably with hands‑on import experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Arranging and coordinating air and road freight imports from origin to final delivery
• Communicating with overseas offices, agents and origins regarding shipments and pre-alerts
• Creating and maintaining job files in the internal freight management system
• Monitoring shipment arrivals and keeping customers/consignees informed
• Checking arrival times and following up on any delays or issues
• Arranging and coordinating customs clearances using ASM Sequoia
• Organising final deliveries with transport providers
• Ensuring shipments progress smoothly through each stage of the import process
• Preparing and issuing customer invoices
• Maintaining accurate shipment and documentation records
• Handling any operational issues and communicating with relevant parties to resolve them

Requirements

• 1–2 years of experience in freight forwarding, ideally in an import-focused role
• Practical knowledge of air and/or road freight imports
• Understanding of the import process from origin through to final delivery
• Experience with or knowledge of customs clearance
• Familiarity with freight management systems; experience with ASM Sequoia is an advantage
• Good organisational and time‑management skills
• Ability to work independently while being part of a small team
• Good communication skills and a customer‑focused approach
• Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously

Occasional out-of-hours/weekend work may be required. This can be performed remotely and is paid separately on a per-job basis .
