Learning Support Assistant (Part Time, Reduced Year)

Keighley College are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support our Study Programmes Department.,

• Provide support within the classroom and off-site visits.
• Help provide support for students with additional needs ie essential wheelchair user, hearing impairment, visual impairment etc.
• Involved in planning, preparation and assessment of learning as part of the course team.
• Providing in-class support to meet needs of students who have high needs.
• Providing curriculum teachers/assessors and Learning Support team members with verbal and written reports on students who have high needs or SEN.
• Assisting with emergency evacuation plans and practices and helping with all emergency evacuations.
• Keeping accurate and timely records, recording progress and strategies used, as required.
• Educated to Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy or a commitment to achieving this within one year of appointment.
• Experience of working in a team in an educational setting.
• Experience of working with students who have high needs or SEN to support their learning through identifying strategies and preparing young people for adulthood.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with staff at all levels in the college.
• Be computer literate and have a strong awareness of disability issues and equality and diversity issues.
• Ability to assist with personal care provision including requirements of wheelchair users.
• A passion to promote a safe environment for, young people and vulnerable adults to learn in, with a specific commitment to the PREVENT agenda.
• Ability to establish rapport with high-needs students and to maintain professional boundaries.
• Please note, this is a reduced year (36 weeks), part time (19 hours) role. The pro rata salary is £11,223 per annum.
