What We're Looking For...

  • Experience delivering education or learning programmes, ideally within a zoo, aquarium, museum, other visitor attraction or education setting.
  • Confident, engaging communicator, comfortable presenting to school groups, families and general visitors of all ages.
  • Sound understanding of conservation, animal welfare and environmental education principles.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan around seasonal demand and juggle competing priorities.
  • Very competent with computers and standard office software, and confident learning new systems quickly.
  • Efficient and confident with paperwork and administrative processes, including record-keeping.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • A quick learner, comfortable picking up new processes, systems and subject knowledge.
  • A genuine passion for conservation and connecting people with the natural world.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with BIAZA and/or EAZA conservation education standards and reporting requirements.
  • A relevant qualification in education, environmental science, zoology or a related field.
  • Experience developing curriculum-linked school sessions or working with formal accreditation schemes.
  • First Aid certification (training can be provided).

Working Pattern

This role is offered on a flexible part-time basis, typically 1 to 3 days per week. Days and hours will vary across the year to reflect school term dates, half-terms, holiday periods and park events, with the working pattern agreed and reviewed regularly with the Animal Manager. Some weekend and school holiday availability will be needed at busier times of year.

Growth & Development

This is a newly created role with scope to grow. As the Education Team and programme develop, there is room for the role's scope, responsibilities and hours to expand over time, alongside ongoing support for professional development in conservation education.
