Water Quality Inspector (Water Refill Units)

Do you like working outdoors? Do you have the confidence to learn and undertake a range of technical and dynamic work tasks? If so, we have a great opportunity within our Supply Sampling team.

This role will require travelling across the picturesque Wessex Water region, taking responsibility for the sampling and cleaning of our water refill units (WRUs), along with taking regulatory samples from customer properties.

A company vehicle and all tools needed to carry out the role are provided. This position is offered at 24 hours per week. Salary will be paid on a pro-rata basis, reflecting the part-time hours.

What you'll do

We schedule and carry out the regulatory sampling programme for Water Refill Units located across various towns and cities within our supply area.

In addition, we provide sampling and analytical services to a range of customers, including customers, businesses, local authorities and environmental consultants.

This multifunctional role involves regulatory water sampling, along with various survey work, all of which comply with UKAS accreditation standards. The role offers a great opportunity to learn and develop your career in this exciting and challenging industry.

Your main duties will include taking representative water quality samples from the WRUs and a variety of other sources, including customer properties, in a professional and efficient manner.

You will also ensure we comply with industry regulations and provide our customers with a high-quality service.

What you'll need

You will:

• have a positive and flexible approach to supporting team colleagues
• enjoy the challenge of working outdoors while prioritising and managing your own dynamic workload
• have good organisational skills and attention to detail
• be comfortable applying a range of sampling procedures
• ideally possess A levels in English, maths and science (or equivalent) as a minimum
• be computer literate with Word and Excel
• be comfortable using Outlook, GIS apps and SharePoint.

A full clean manual driving licence is essential due to the nature of the work.
