Phlebotomist – Flexible Temporary Shifts Location: Slough, Berkshire Job Type: Temporary / Ad hoc Hours: Short shifts About the Opportunity We are…
Our Imaging & Diagnostics service sits at the heart of the patient journey and plays a critical role in ensuring patients receive timely, accurate, and compassionate care. Often one of the first clinical touchpoints, the department supports consultants and clinical teams by delivering high-quality diagnostic services in a calm, reassuring environment.
Working closely with clinicians, patient administration teams, and external pathology providers, the service ensures investigations are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with the highest clinical and governance standards. Accuracy, professionalism, and patient comfort underpin everything we do.
As a Phlebotomist, you will play a key role in delivering an exceptional patient experience by providing safe, efficient, and patient-centred blood collection services. You will ensure that every patient feels informed, reassured, and cared for throughout their visit, adapting your approach to meet individual needs.
Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will carry out venepuncture and sample collection to the highest clinical standards, ensuring specimens are correctly labelled, processed, and prepared for transport. You will manage patient interactions with professionalism and empathy, particularly when supporting anxious or vulnerable patients.
The role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to infection prevention and control standards, and accurate use of electronic systems to manage samples and records. You will also support the smooth running of the phlebotomy service by maintaining stock levels, completing governance checks, and escalating concerns appropriately.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment, takes pride in precision and quality, and is committed to delivering outstanding patient care.
You are a qualified and competent phlebotomist with a strong commitment to delivering safe, effective, and compassionate care. You are confident performing venepuncture, work accurately under pressure, and take pride in maintaining high clinical and governance standards.
You communicate clearly and sensitively with patients and colleagues, demonstrating professionalism, empathy, and discretion at all times. Comfortable using electronic systems, you understand the importance of accurate record-keeping, confidentiality, and compliance with data protection requirements.
A reliable and proactive team player, you work well both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing positively to service quality and patient experience.
