Healthcare Assistant

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the Primary Care team at HMP Wakefield. A Category A men's prison in Wakefield, West Yorkshire., As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

• Deliver exceptional care to patients, both in the healthcare department and on the wings
• Facilitate clinics, including bloods, observations (obs), ECGs, NHS Health checks etc
• Be involved in the implementation of clinical care packages
• Support the nursing team with all aspects of care
• Act as a second checker in pharmacy as required
• Support receptions (new patients entering the prison) and assist with triaging new patients
• You will primarily be working within the Primary Care team, although may be required to carry out duties in the mental health or substance misuse teams

• Ideally hold an NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or Care Certificate
• Have experience within phlebotomy - this is highly desirable!
• Have experience in a clinical care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison setting
• Have clinical experience - venepuncture, ECGs etc
• Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach

Hours

37.5 hours per week

Mixture of days, nights and weekends

Days: 7am - 7:15pm

Nights: 7pm - 7:15am

Salary

You’ll recieve an annual salary up to £29,723 per annum - depending on expereince
