Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) is recruiting an experienced Healthcare Assistant to join its established team within the Heart and Lung Directorate in London.

About the Role

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will work collaboratively with registered nurses and other healthcare professionals to support the health, wellbeing and day-to-day care needs of children and young people.

You will also provide support and reassurance to patients and their families, particularly when they may be anxious, distressed or undergoing complex treatment.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include:

• Working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Supporting registered nurses with the delivery of patient care.
• Helping meet the daily living needs of children and young people.
• Providing compassionate and reassuring support to patients and their families.
• Communicating clearly and professionally with patients, families, visitors and colleagues.
• Answering questions appropriately and passing on relevant information.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants are expected to meet the relevant education and professional requirements for the role.

• GCSE English and Maths at grades 4–9 , or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
• NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care , such as a relevant qualification in children’s and young people’s healthcare, or an equivalent Level 3 qualification or higher apprenticeship.
• A Healthcare Support Worker Level 2 qualification or Certificate in Care may also be relevant.
