An exciting opportunity has now arisen within the Colchester & North Essex Agency.

As part of our continued growth strategy, we are seeking a proactive and outgoing Lead Generator to support our sales and marketing activity by identifying and generating high-quality leads for our Commercial, Personal and Financial Services teams. This role requires an individual who can confidently engage with local businesses and communities to identify opportunities, initiate conversations, and support wider marketing campaigns through networking and event attendance. You’ll play a key role in raising the profile of the agency, building local awareness of our services, and contributing directly to our lead pipeline and growth across key sectors. This role supports the agency’s alignment with NFU Mutual’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Proactively identify and qualify potential new business opportunities across commercial and personal insurance, as well as financial services, through outbound calls, emails, networking, referrals, and local canvassing.
• Appointment booking for New Business opportunities for Commercial Sellers
• Relationship Development - build strong working relationships with local businesses, groups, and stakeholders to help develop long-term lead opportunities and referrals.
• CRM & Data Management - record and track lead activity using internal CRM tools and processes. Ensure all interactions are accurately captured and followed up in a timely manner.
• Cross-Selling Opportunities - Identify cross-sell and referral opportunities for insurance, financial services, risk management and health & safety consultancy, passing qualified leads to the relevant sales team.
• Compliance & Conduct - ensure all activity is undertaken in a compliant, customer-centric way, acting in line with FCA principles and NFU Mutual’s internal policies.

About you

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Confidence in approaching and speaking with new people
• Energetic, self-motivated, and proactive mindset
• Ability to organise and manage your own workload effectively
• Strong attention to detail in logging and qualifying leads
• Experience in sales, telemarketing, events, or customer-facing roles
• Understanding of general insurance and/or financial services sectors
• Experience with CRM systems or lead-tracking tools

Performance Expectations

• Volume and quality of leads generated
• Conversion rates from lead to opportunity
• Adherence to compliance and conduct standards
