School Administrator

Location: East Riding of Yorkshire Job role: School Administrator Salary: £110 to £115 per day Hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm Duration: ASAP start until Christmas 2026

Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a reliable, organised and friendly School Administrator / Receptionist to join a welcoming secondary school in Pocklington. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator or receptionist who enjoys working in a busy school environment and supporting both staff and students.The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the school office, providing a professional and welcoming first point of contact for students, parents, visitors and staff.This position is available for an immediate start and will run until Christmas 2026, offering a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience within a secondary school setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Front-of-house reception: Welcome visitors, parents, students and staff, ensuring all visitors follow the school's safeguarding and sign-in procedures.
• Telephone and email management: Answer incoming calls, respond to enquiries professionally and direct queries to the appropriate members of staff.
• General administration: Complete a range of administrative tasks, including filing, photocopying, scanning, data entry and maintaining accurate records.
• Student support: Assist with student sign-ins and sign-outs, record attendance information and respond to routine student-related enquiries.
• School office support: Provide administrative assistance to teachers, senior leadership and other members of the school team.
• Communication: Liaise with parents and carers regarding routine enquiries, messages and appointments.
• Record keeping: Update school databases and maintain confidential student and staff information accurately.
• Safeguarding and confidentiality: Follow school policies and procedures, maintaining a safe environment for students and handling sensitive information appropriately.

• Previous experience in an administrative, receptionist or customer service role.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Confident using IT systems, Microsoft Office and email.
• A professional, friendly and approachable manner.
• The ability to work efficiently in a busy environment and manage competing priorities.
• An understanding of the importance of safeguarding and confidentiality within a school setting.
• Previous experience working in a school or educational environment would be advantageous.

Essential Requirement - DBS

Applicants must hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the DBS Update Service. This is essential for the role due to the nature of the position and the requirement to work within a secondary school environment. Candidates must also be able to meet the school's safeguarding and pre-employment compliance requirements.
