What working for us will look like on a day-to-day basis:

As Export Shipping Co-ordinator , you’ll play a key role in ensuring our products reach customers around the world safely, efficiently and on time. You’ll take ownership of the day-to-day coordination of Terasaki’s international, multimodal export shipments (air, sea and road freight ), ensuring shipments meet customer, customs and country-specific requirements while balancing service, cost and timescales.

You’ll coordinate the full export process, working directly with freight forwarders, carriers, customs agents, customers and other external stakeholders. While you’ll work closely with colleagues across the business, you won’t have any people‑management responsibilities. Instead, you’ll be relied upon as the subject‑matter point of contact for international freight , using your own knowledge and judgement to determine the appropriate course of action, investigate issues independently and find practical solutions when challenges arise.

This is a role suited to a mid-level professional who has demonstrable, hands‑on, transactional experience coordinating international export shipments across air, sea and road freight forwarding, export shipping or international logistics. You’ll need to be confident making operational decisions, dealing directly with external stakeholders and taking action when things don’t go to plan. Your ability to understand the detail, identify potential issues and resolve them will be critical to delivering a reliable export service.

Based on‑site in Clydebank, Glasgow , this is a fast‑paced hands‑on, transactional role where you’ll have autonomy and clear ownership of your area of responsibility. Your core working hours will be Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 17:00 and Friday 08:00 to 12:30 , with flexitime forming part of our working hours.

In this role, you will

1. Own the journey from order to delivery — managing international, multimodal export shipments by air, road and sea, selecting the right shipping method and freight forwarder to meet customer requirements, deadlines and cost expectations. You’ll take responsibility of keeping shipments moving and ensuring products reach customers reliably and efficiently.
2. Co‑ordinate with people to keep shipments moving — working closely with customers, colleagues, freight forwarders, carriers and other third parties to manage priorities, resolve issues and find practical solutions when challenges arise. Your communication and coordination will be key to delivering the service our customers expect.
3. Make sure every shipment is compliant and ready to go — managing export, customs and shipping documentation, including Certificates of Origin and, where required, Letters of Credit and external inspection requirements. Your attention to detail and understanding of Customs and import requirements will help prevent delays, avoid unnecessary costs and ensure shipments meet all relevant requirements.
4. Use your judgement to make things happen — making confident, time‑critical decisions when circumstances change, prioritising your workload and taking ownership of shipments and issues from start to finish. You’ll be someone who doesn’t wait for problems to resolve themselves but brings the right people together to find a solution.
5. Keep a close eye on service and costs — monitoring shipping performance and freight costs, taking action where needed and balancing customer requirements with the commercial needs of the business. You’ll also support UK transport requirements when required, helping find the right solution for both the customer and Terasaki.
6. Look for better ways of working — bringing a proactive approach to the role and identifying opportunities to improve shipping processes, efficiency and service. You’ll have the opportunity to challenge how things are done, suggest practical improvements and help make our shipping operation more effective and responsive.

What success looks like:

In your first 12 months, you’ll build a strong understanding of our business, customers, products and export shipping processes. During your first few weeks, you’ll receive training on our internal processes, export and Customs requirements, and the systems we use, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365). You’ll also build relationships with colleagues across the business and with key external partners, giving you the knowledge and confidence to manage shipments effectively.

As you grow into the role, you’ll take increasing ownership of our export shipping activity. You’ll confidently manage shipments, make sound decisions around shipping methods and freight forwarders and resolve issues quickly when they arise.

And this is only the beginning. As you develop your knowledge and experience, you’ll have opportunities to broaden your expertise across international freight, customs and compliance, freight costs and shipping processes. You’ll work closely with Sales Operations, Warehouse, Production, customers and external logistics partners, developing the commercial and operational understanding needed to make a real contribution to the business.

What you can bring to Terasaki:

• Export Shipping Experience: Demonstrable hands‑on, transactional experience managing international export shipments across air, sea and road freight.
• Customs & Export Knowledge: Good knowledge of Customs procedures and export requirements.
• Organisation & Accuracy: Highly organised, accurate and able to manage competing priorities effectively.
• Decision‑Making and Adaptability: Confident making practical decisions and responding to time‑critical issues and able to respond positively to changing priorities and the fast‑paced nature of international shipping and transport.
• Problem‑Solving: A practical and solutions‑focused approach when dealing with unexpected shipping or transport issues.
• Communication: Strong communication skills and confidence working with customers, colleagues, freight forwarders and external partners.
• Commercial Awareness: Understanding of freight costs, service levels and the need to balance customer requirements with cost‑effective solutions.
• Ownership: Able to work independently, take ownership of shipments and issues, and see them through from start to finish.
• Aviation Security: Aviation Security Certificate Level D.
• IT Skills: Competent IT skills, with experience using Microsoft applications; Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) experience would be an advantage.
• Continuous Improvement: Proactive approach with a willingness to identify opportunities and find better ways of working.
• Stakeholder Relationships: Comfortable building positive working relationships across different teams and with external partners.
