Responsible for non-metal sourcing and procurement for the business. The role involves negotiating with suppliers, ensuring quality, cost effectiveness and maintaining positive vendor relationships.

Responsibilities
Adhere to Procurement Policies and Procedures
Adhere to deadlines set by management and/or the business
Learn and develop knowledge via training courses
Perform supplier evaluation and relationship management tasks on a regular basis
Ensure contractors that carry out work on site are accredited on the SafeContractor platform before an order is placed
Support Engineering throughout Projects
Resolve all procurement issues – late deliveries, incorrect items etc.
Upload SDS to online chemical management system
Support the Procurement & Warehouse Manager and wider team as required
Cover other members of the team as required due to holidays or absence
Respond to internal queries within 24 hours
Respond to external queries within 48 hours
Take full ownership of all responsibilities within the Buyers role, following through on tasks and decisions reliably.
Always demonstrate strong accountability and urgency in the role
Update PRs for approval in <2.5 days
Convert PRs to POs in <1 day
Strategically source all contracts through RFP/RFQ
Achieve average of 5% or more cost saving from initial quoted price to final price
Maintain 85% SafeContractor accreditation
Conduct risk-based supplier assessments
Maintain average score of 7.0 for supplier quality performance
Maintain Supplier A & B Code of Conduct compliance
Requirements
5 GCSEs Grade A-C – English Language and Maths essential
Strong proven experience as a Buyer
Strong negotiation and communication skills
Experienced with ERP systems
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experienced with supplier management and relationship building
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Strong commercial knowledge and contract management
Strong understanding of legal compliance, and experience of reviewing, checking and understanding contracts/terms
Advantageous skills and experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong negotiation and conflict resolution abilities
Effective decision making and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritise workload and work with minimal supervision
Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building
