COMMERCIAL OPERATIONS ASSISTANT for GROWING business in Rotherham

The company is a growing business specialising in the processing, supply and distribution of specialist metals. With the continued growth and recent expansion into a new Warehouse they are looking to strengthen the team with a commercially minded and organised individual who is keen to develop their career within a growing business.

The Role

As a Commercial Operations Assistant you will work closely with management and support the commercial and operational side of the business.

This is a varied role that would suit a recent university graduate or someone early in their career who is commercially aware, confident working with numbers and interested in understanding how a business operates.

You will have responsibility for a range of commercial and administrative tasks, including obtaining and preparing quotations, monitoring stock pricing, checking company expenses and assisting with the processing and approval of supplier invoices.

As you develop within the role, there will be opportunities to take on greater responsibility and become an important part of the wider commercial operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing and obtaining supplier and customer quotations
• Checking and maintaining current stock pricing
• Comparing supplier prices and identifying cost-saving opportunities
• Assisting with purchasing and supplier negotiations
• Checking company expenses and supporting expense approval
• Checking supplier invoices against agreed pricing and purchasesPreparing documentation for management approval/sign-off
• Maintaining accurate commercial and pricing records
• Liaising with suppliers, customers and internal departmentsAssisting management with commercial reports and analysis
• Monitoring outstanding quotations and following these up where required
• Supporting stock and purchasing administrationIdentifying discrepancies in pricing, invoices or stock information
• Providing general commercial and administrative support to managementTaking on additional responsibilities as the role develops

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

• A recent university graduate or has relevant commercial/administrative experience
• Commercially minded and interested in how a business operates
• Confident working with figures and spreadsheets
• Able to work independently and use initiative
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
• Comfortable communicating with suppliers, customers and colleagues
• Confident using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
• Naturally inquisitive and willing to learn
• Professional, reliable and commercially aware
• Looking for a long-term opportunity rather than simply an entry-level administrative position
• A degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Supply Chain, Management or a related subject would be advantageous, although relevant experience will also be considered.
