Buyer

Our client a very established, secure and growing organisation are looking for a Buyer based in Nursling in Southampton.

They have two roles: one 12 month fixed term contract (Frozen and Chilled) and one Full time Permanent ( Vitamins Minerals and Supplements).

Duties of Buyer (Food)

• Assisting with the management of regular supplier accounts within chilled/frozen category
• Onboarding new suppliers/brands
• Negotiating pricing, contract terms and conditions with existing suppliers.
• Analysing market trends and perform cost analysis to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities
• Monitoring stock levels and assisting with stock control
• Supporting the implementation of category plans
• Liaising with suppliers to maintain good relationships
• Providing administrative support to the Buying Team

Skills of Buyer (Food)

• Good practical knowledge of Microsoft packages, including Excel & Word.
• Administration and the ability to use reports and spot trends.
• Strong negotiating skills.
• Good supplier rapport.
• The ability to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Plenty of initiative and the ability to work both alone and liaising with a team
• Ability to cope with demands of a fast pace changing industry
