A family based in East Finchley are looking for an experienced, nurturing nanny to join them as their current nanny of three years prepares to leave in November. They have two children, aged five and three, both of whom attend school and nursery full-time. The eldest is autistic and non-verbal, while her younger sister is neurotypical. She is completely mobile and communicates through gestures and affection, and she is a very tactile little girl who loves cuddles and connection. Experience with SEN or autistic children would be a real bonus, but the family are particularly looking for someone who is naturally warm, nurturing and comfortable following a child's lead.

The role is primarily after school and at weekends. The usual hours are Monday to Friday from around 4.30pm to 8pm. Weekend hours are also very flexible depending on what the nanny is looking for, and could be a Saturday morning or afternoon, or two half days across the weekend. The current nanny works around 30 hours per week, and there is scope for the hours to increase if the right person would like this. The family would also love someone who is happy to join them on holidays and during half terms when possible, with plenty of notice given.

After school, the eldest will be picked up around 4.30pm, with the nanny potentially meeting her at school with the family driver if they are local. Her food and prescribed milkshakes will be prepared by the nanny at home, and the afternoon will involve some light meal preparation, play and one-on-one time before bath around 7.15pm and bed at 7.30pm. At weekends, the role will be more shared care, as Mum and Dad are usually around. They often go to their country club in Watford, where there is a creche on Saturday mornings, and there are regular family outings and activities. The nanny will mainly spend one-on-one time with the eldest girl while the parents are with her younger sister.

Personality is incredibly important to this family. They are looking for someone outgoing, approachable and warm, with an open energy and a naturally nurturing personality. The eldest really responds to people's energy and tends to gravitate towards people who feel calm, positive and genuine. Someone who is tactile, affectionate and comfortable giving her a cuddle is important, while also being able to maintain professional boundaries. The family are very easy-going and would love someone who can have fun with the children, be a little carefree and mould naturally into their family life rather than being overly rigid or formal.

They genuinely see the people who work with them as part of their wider family and believe that it takes a village to raise children. They often include their nannies in family events and holidays, and would love someone who enjoys being part of that kind of environment.

The family are conscious of good hygiene within the home, particularly around the children, so simple routines such as removing shoes when coming into the house and washing hands are important. The eldest still drinks from bottles, so clean hands before handling these is particularly important.
