The successful candidate will demonstrate strong subject knowledge, effective classroom management skills and the ability to inspire students to think critically, analyse historical sources and develop their own perspectives on the past.

Horizon Teachers are offering a range of opportunities, including flexible day-to-day supply, long-term placements and permanent positions. Whether you're looking for greater flexibility or a longer-term opportunity to establish yourself within a school, we would love to hear from you!

The ideal History Teacher will:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Have strong subject knowledge in History, with experience teaching across KS3 and KS4.
• Be confident delivering engaging, inclusive lessons that encourage historical enquiry, critical thinking and classroom discussion.
• Demonstrate excellent behaviour management and communication skills.
• Be reliable, adaptable and committed to supporting pupils' academic and personal development.

Why work with Horizon Teachers?

• Paid to scale from day one, in line with the Inner London Main Pay Scale, reflecting your teaching experience and applicable pay point.
• Access to a variety of secondary schools across Greenwich and surrounding South London boroughs.
• Dedicated support from an experienced education recruitment consultant.
• Access to CPD opportunities, safeguarding training and ongoing career guidance.
• Flexible opportunities to suit your availability and long-term career ambitions.

We're proud to be an inclusive employer, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds and committed to creating accessible opportunities across education.

As part of our registration process, you'll need an enhanced DBS check and we'll need to see and copy your original qualifications before any placement. Teaching roles require Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

\"Will was extremely helpful by finding my long term / permanent placement options available in my area. He went as far as giving up time on weekends to help me prep for my interviews and keeping me well updated at every stage; as well as making sure the process was smooth.\" 5 Star Google Review
