Join Medacs Healthcare as a PIP Functional Assessor / Disability Assessor

Are you an NMC-registered Nurse or HCPC-registered Paramedic, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist ready for a change from frontline clinical work, but keen to continue using your expertise?

As a PIP Functional Assessor / Disability Assessor at Medacs Healthcare, you'll complete Personal Independence Payment (PIP) functional assessments to understand how health conditions affect everyday life. This is a non-hand-on clinical role centred on clinical reasoning, analysis and report writing.

The hybrid working model combines home working with time at one of our assessment centres, offering predictable hours, long-term stability and a healthier work-life balance.

What you'll do

  • Conduct face-to-face and telephone PIP assessments in a professional and empathetic manner
  • Analyse medical evidence and clinical information
  • Produce accurate, detailed and evidence-based written reports
  • Work to defined quality standards and clinical frameworks
  • Engage positively with feedback and development opportunities
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative colleagues
  • Attend the assessment centre as required

What we're looking for

Essential:

  • Registered Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Physiotherapist, Paramedic or Occupational Therapist
  • Active NMC or HCPC registration with no restrictions
  • Minimum 1 year's UK clinical experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Confident use of digital systems (35 WPM typing speed)
  • Right to work in the UK (sponsorship not available)

Desirable

  • Experience in functional assessment or advisory roles
  • Confidence in producing high-quality written clinical reports

What's on offer

  • Competitive salary with structured pay progression and bonus potential
  • Approval bonus
  • Hybrid working arrangement
  • Structured hours - no evenings, weekends or bank holidays
  • 25 days' annual leave plus your birthday off
  • NMC/HCPC fee reimbursement after probation
  • Comprehensive training and ongoing clinical support
  • Clear progression routes and CPD opportunities
  • £2,500 referral bonus (terms apply)

You’ll enjoy this role if you…

  • Prefer structured assessments and clear clinical frameworks
  • Feel confident using computers and learning new clinical systems
  • Enjoy writing detailed, high-quality reports
  • Value routine, consistency and a balanced working pattern
  • Are keen to learn and develop and open to constructive feedback

This role might not be right for you if you…

  • Are looking to stay in hands-on clinical care or fast-paced, acute settings
  • Prefer minimal structure rather than clearly defined processes
  • Don't enjoy detailed report writing or written clinical work
  • Would find working mainly with digital systems frustrating
  • Would be uncomfortable with re-training for a different type of clinical role, which includes a comprehensive, supported training programme
  • Would feel uncomfortable working in a role with targets and quality measures

Why join Medacs Healthcare?

You'll be supported by experienced clinical leaders, benefit from structured training and have the opportunity to build a long-term career in a supportive hybrid working environment.
