A single-parent family based in Notting Hill, West London, are seeking an experienced rota nanny to join their two-nanny rota, working two weeks on and two weeks off. This is a fully staffed household that feels remarkably intimate. The team around the family is small and very close, everyone looks out for one another, and the whole house is built around two happy, much-loved children. The role is one of two rota positions, working in tandem with the other rota nanny as well as the daily head nanny, and the family would love to find someone who will become a settled, long-term part of that team.

The children are 2 and 4. The eldest is at nursery school Monday to Friday, 8.45am to 3.15pm, and the youngest goes to nursery two mornings a week. Around that, their week includes swimming, French and Tarka classes, along with play dates and plenty of time outdoors.

The household runs with a small, trusted team. There is a chief of staff who looks after the running of the home, travelling butlers, full-time housekeepers from 7am to 8pm and a daily nanny alongside the two rota nannies. The father thinks of this team as his family and relies on them as such. It is a calm, kind and private environment with no gossip or drama, and the right person will fit in easily, support their colleagues and enjoy being part of something so settled.

The father is a kind, happy and gentle man who loves his children dearly. Food is at the heart of the house. He does the shopping himself, seeking out exciting ingredients, and he cooks for the whole household. He is deeply cultural, loves his garden and would like his nannies to be outdoorsy and get the children out exploring.

The role is a mixture of shared care, with the father, the other rota nanny or the daily head-nanny, and some sole charge. The nanny is responsible for all of the children's needs and care, preparing healthy meals for them when there is no chef, school runs, and planning age-appropriate activities, play dates and schedules. Running errands, packing for trips and keeping the children's wardrobes and toys organised are all part of the role. Although there are full-time housekeepers, it matters to the family that the nanny keeps the children's areas clean, tidy and well organised. Liaising with the rest of the household team and with the father is a daily part of the job.

The family stick to the two weeks on and two weeks off pattern, with the occasional change to something like ten days. Handover is always at 10am and the family try to avoid weekend starts, with the rota set six months in advance. During off weeks, the family may occasionally ask the nanny to attend a webinar, or to come back in a real emergency, but they have only called in an off-rota nanny around twice in the past two years.

Travel is a lovely part of this role. A typical year might include Marrakech in October, France in December, time in the Caribbean, and extended periods in the US over the summer, mostly on the East Coast in Rhode Island. Plans can change at short notice, so the family need someone who takes that in their stride. A driving licence is useful, particularly in the US where driving is mostly short local journeys.

While on rota, the nanny has their own bedroom and private bathroom, below the children's bedrooms, which is next to the staff kitchen/lounge. There are no pets.

The family are looking for someone extremely capable, professional, honest and trustworthy, who is flexible, independent and knowledgeable about routines and developmental milestones. They would love a nanny who is caring and nurturing, confident, firm yet kind, and happy and optimistic by nature. The current team are calm and relaxed, so someone organised and steady who brings a little more energy and structure would complement them well. Above all, they want a team player without an ego who worksclosely with colleagues, and who is discreet and well presented. Experience in a staffed, high-net-worth household and of travelling internationally with a family are both essential.

For a nanny who wants to join a close, happy household and grow with two lovely young children over the long term, this is a very special role.
