Making weekends work with purpose at Vets Now Sheffield

Vets Now Sheffield provides dedicated out-of-hours veterinary care for dogs, cats and small animals, supporting pets and their owners through nights, weekends and bank holidays when they need emergency and critical care the most.

We’re looking for a Weekend Vet Surgeon to join our experienced ECC team, providing rewarding clinical care while enjoying a structured working pattern designed around your life.

Now for rewarding work, your way

Weekend working can be a great way to build flexibility into your veterinary career. Whether you’re looking to work alongside other commitments, supplement your existing role or simply want to focus your veterinary career around weekends, this could be the opportunity for you.

This role offers an average 14 hours per week , with shifts covering a combination of:

• Saturday and Sunday nights: 18:00–09:00
• Saturday days: 12:00–19:00
• Sunday days: 08:00–19:00

You’ll be part of a supportive ECC environment where no two shifts are the same, giving you the opportunity to manage a varied caseload, develop your emergency skills and make real difference when it matters most.

Now for your development

When you join us as an ECC Vet, you’ll have access to dedicated training, mentoring and development opportunities, supported by experienced ECC clinicians. You’ll also benefit from our AdvantEdge programme , helping you build your knowledge and confidence in emergency and critical care through practical training and flexible case-based learning.

Our exceptional benefits package includes:

• Seven weeks pro rata annual leave
• Private medical insurance
• Up to 50% discounted staff pet care
• Professional membership fees

Now for the support around you

Emergency work can be challenging, but you won’t be doing it alone. Alongside your experienced clinical colleagues in Sheffield, our central support teams are there to help with areas such as complaints and customer service, allowing you to concentrate on what matters most — caring for your patients.

Now for your next weekend move

We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds, including those from diverse and minority groups. As a Disability Confident Employer, we encourage candidates with disabilities and health conditions to apply and are committed to providing reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process.
