We're working with a specialist cyber security consultancy that delivers technical security work across critical national infrastructure and other high-consequence environments.
They're looking for a Technical Cyber Security Consultant who combines broad security knowledge with genuine hands-on technical capability. This isn't a purely advisory or assessment-focused position. You'll identify security weaknesses, help clients understand the risk, and then get involved in implementing the solution.
The role
Designing, deploying and configuring security controls including firewalls, EDR, SIEM, IAM and cloud security tooling
Supporting penetration testing, vulnerability assessments and technical security reviews
Turning assessment findings into practical remediation plans and helping clients implement them
Hardening Windows, Linux, network and cloud environments
Building scripts, automation and internal security tooling
Working with standards and guidance such as CIS Benchmarks, NCSC and ISO 27001
Communicating technical risks and recommendations to both technical teams and senior stakeholders
What we're looking for
2+ years' experience within cyber security, security engineering, infrastructure or a similar technical environment
Broad knowledge of networking, including TCP/IP, routing, firewalls and VPNs
Experience across Windows/Linux administration and Active Directory/identity
Experience with at least one major cloud platform: Azure, AWS or GCP
Hands-on experience implementing and configuring security solutions, rather than solely assessing them
Scripting experience with Python, PowerShell or Bash
