Change Mental Health is looking for a Mental Health & Wellbeing Practitioner to join our Hub service in Edinburgh. You'll support people experiencing poor mental health or mental illness to build confidence, resilience and stronger connections within their community, providing practical, person-centred support focused on what matters to each individual.

About the role

You'll work directly with people through a mix of 1:1 support, group activities and community engagement, helping individuals identify achievable goals, develop personal plans and build practical strategies to support their mental health and wellbeing. You'll help create a welcoming and inclusive environment in our centre, encourage peer and community connections, and work with local organisations and services to make sure people can access the right support and opportunities.

Essential

Experience facilitating groups, peer-support activities or community-based sessions.
Experience providing structured 1:1 support and contributing to personal or outcome-focused plans.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, professional relationships.
Ability to manage your own workload and work effectively as part of a team.
Commitment to trauma-informed, person-centred, strengths-based and recovery-focused practice.
Understanding of risk assessment and safe decision-making.
SVQ Level 2 Social Services and Healthcare (Adults) or willingness to work towards this if required.
SSSC registration, or willingness to register if required.

Desirable

Experience supporting people affected by mental health issues.
Knowledge of local community resources, services and referral pathways.
Experience supporting people affected by trauma, social isolation or complex circumstances.

The role is typically worked across weekdays between 9am and 5pm, with occasional evening or weekend working depending on service needs. This role is service based for the majority of the role.
