Salary: 38,000 - 44,000 per annum

Start date: September 2026

Are you an experienced carpentry and joinery professional looking to pass on your trade skills to the next generation of tradespeople?

About the Role

You'll deliver carpentry and joinery qualifications to students at a range of levels, combining practical workshop instruction with classroom-based theory teaching. Working within a well-equipped training environment, you'll help learners develop the technical skills, industry knowledge and professional standards they need to succeed in the construction sector.

This role would suit someone with a strong vocational background in carpentry who is ready to move into teaching, as well as those with existing lecturing experience. Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and delivering engaging practical and theory sessions in carpentry and joinery.
• Assessing student work and providing constructive feedback to support progress.
• Preparing students for industry-recognised qualifications and assessments.
• Maintaining a safe, well-organised workshop environment in line with health and safety requirements.
• Keeping up to date with current carpentry and joinery industry practice and standards.
• Monitoring and recording student attendance, progress and achievement.

• A recognised trade background in carpentry and joinery
• A relevant Level 3 qualification in carpentry and joinery, or equivalent industry experience
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• A commitment to safe working practices and high professional standards

Desirable (but not essential):

• A teaching qualification such as a PGCE, DET or Cert Ed
• An assessor or verifier award
• Previous experience teaching or mentoring in a further education setting

If you're ready to bring your carpentry expertise into the classroom and help shape the next generation of tradespeople, we'd love to hear from you.
