As a Second Charge Mortgage Underwriter, you'll manage applications from initial review through to lending decision, balancing strong commercial judgement with fair customer outcomes. Key Responsibilities

• Review and underwrite second charge mortgage applications in line with lending policy and regulatory requirements
• Assess customer circumstances and supporting evidence to make fair, accurate lending decisions
• Verify application documentation and request additional information where required
• Maintain precise and up-to-date customer records throughout the underwriting process
• Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, brokers and internal stakeholders
• Manage a busy pipeline while maintaining excellent quality and service standards
• Consistently achieve agreed KPIs, productivity and quality targets

About You

You will ideally have:

• At least 12 months' experience assessing, processing or underwriting loan applications
• Experience within mortgages, secured lending, consumer finance or a related financial-services environment
• A proven ability to manage high application volumes while maintaining quality and accuracy
• Strong attention to detail and excellent data-entry skills
• The confidence to assess complex customer circumstances and identify appropriate next steps
• Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
• A positive, solutions-led approach and the ability to perform in a KPI-driven environment

This role could be an excellent next step for someone currently working as a Loan Processor, Credit Analyst, Mortgage Advisor, Debt Management Advisor, Loan Officer or Mortgage Underwriter.
